For Dr. Fernell Jimenez-Pabón education is not a job but a passion where he enjoys educating all levels of students in different subjects. His goal is to share that passion with other educators by equipping them with strategies to empower their students to achieve their academic potential at secondary education level, specifically in dual credit courses and in early college high schools (ECHS). His experience in teaching dual credit and ECHS has provided him with the ability to understand secondary education students from all levels, bringing the opportunity to show students the right path to education.
Dr. Jimenez-Pabón is a master consultant with a robust knowledge on how to adapt educators’ teaching styles based on students’ academic and linguistic needs and subjects within the constraints of college guidelines and policies, hence promoting a high level of student engagement. Research has demonstrated that engaging students in the learning process increases their attention and focus and motivates them to reach higher-level critical thinking.
Dr. Jimenez-Pabón is currently a professor of Humanities, Education, and Spanish at the University of Houston Downtown and Lone Star College-Kingwood where he teaches courses required for the associate degree in teaching at Lone Star College and intermediate Spanish. Previously, he taught dual credit courses at one of the Houston-area ECHS for ten years, and high school Spanish for six years at the middle school level.
He has a doctorate in Humanities with a concentration in History, a master’s degree in Educational Technology Leadership, and a second master’s degree in Spanish Translation. Additionally, Dr. Jimenez-Pabón is a certified online instructor for various Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas, Black Board, and D2L Learning Platform, which he currently utilizes to teach online courses. Also, he is a published author; his earlier publication is titled, Clergymen Building Latin America, A Survey of the Wars for Independence in Latin America.
Dr. Fernell Jimenez-Pabón is one of the senior consultants for Dr. Yacovodonato Educational Consulting LLC supporting teachers of secondary students in dual credit courses, ECHS, and advanced courses.
