Using reflective coaching and job-embedded training approaches, Dr. Y addresses the specific instructional needs of teachers in campuses serving EBs. The coaching is intended for teachers in transitional bilingual programs, dual language programs, ESL content-based or pull-out programs, and secondary schools.
Specifically, Dr. Y collects and analyses data regarding teachers’ practices through structured clinical classroom observations, lesson plans, and instructional artifacts created by teachers and students. The outcomes of the analysis are used to create a professional development tailored to the teachers’ needs which is typically delivered during a debriefing meeting. If requested, model lessons can be included as part of the training as well as the delivery of instruction in a co-teaching approach.
